These brownie cookies offer the best of both worlds by combining classic brownie flavor in cookie form. They are the perfect balance of gooey in the middle with slightly crisp edges. The ultimate treat for any chocolate lover. We first tried them were still warm from the oven. The chocolaty gooeyness was to die for. And guess what... after they cooled they were still equally addictive! I've had several people tell me these are the best cookies they ever ate. The perfect chewy brownie cookie with crisp edges. Delicious!

Ingredients :
  • 1 1/2 cup(s) brown sugar firmly packed
  • 2/3 cup(s) Crisco
  • 1 tablespoon(s) water
  • 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup(s) all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup(s) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) baking soda
  • 2 cup(s) semi-sweet chocolate chips
Intructions :
  • Preheat oven to 375. Place sheets of foil on the countertop for cooling.
  • Place brown sugar
  • shortening
  • water
  • and vanilla in a large bowl. Beat at medium speed with a mixer until well blended. Add eggs 1 at a time and beat well.
  • Combine flour
  • cocoa
  • salt
  • and baking soda.
  • Add to shortening mixture and beat at low speed JUST UNTIL blended.
  • Stir in chocolate chips.
  • Drop by rounded measuring teaspoons 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake one baking sheet at a time at 375 for 7 to 9 minutes. DO NOT OVERBAKE.
  • Cool for 2 minutes on the baking sheet. Then move cookies to foil.
