Ingredients :
- 3 cup(s) granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup(s) butter or margarine
- 5 ounce(s) evaporated milk (about 2/3 cup, do not use sweetened condensed milk)
- 12 ounce(s) Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate
- chopped
- 1 jar(s) Jet-puffed marshmallow creme (7 oz)
- 1 cup(s) chopped walnuts
- 1 cup(s) snaps pretzels
- coarsely chopped (Snyders of Hanover brand)
- 1 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
- whole pecans for topping
Intructions :
- Line a 9-inch square pan (or 7 x 9-inch pan) with non-stick foil
- with the ends of the foil extending over the sides.
- On medium heat
- bring sugar
- butter
- and evaporated milk to a full rolling boil in a 3-qt saucepan
- stirring constantly.
- Cook for 4 - 5 minutes or until a candy thermometer reaches 234 degrees
- stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
- Now add semi-sweet chocolate and marshmallow creme, stir until melted.
- Add chopped nuts
- pretzels
- and vanilla extract. Mix well.
- Pour into the prepared pan. Spread to cover the bottom of the pan.
- Add whole pecans on top (about 1 inch apart). This gives a nice presentation.
- Cool completely. Use foil handles to lift fudge from the pan before cutting it into squares.NOTE: Be sure to use the Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate brand - it really enhances the chocolate flavor.
