Girl Scout Tacos Recipe @pinch

Make these tacos in a Dutch oven or over an open stove if you are camping. Either way, you'll have a great meal. After the meat simmers with the beans and seasonings, It is rich with a smoky flavor. The meat and bean mixture soaks into corn chips. Basically, they are open havefaced tacos everyone will love. This was one of my favorite camping recipes, and even at home, it is one of my favorites. It really is more like a glorified chili pie, but it sooooo good. Like regular tacos, you can customize this recipe to your tastes, but for my money, it is awesome as just as it is written here.

  • NOTE: This recipe is written for home kitchen preparation. This recipe tastes best when prepared over an open fire. However, use care when cooking with open flames. I recommend using long-handled cooking utensils. Also, when using regular cooking pots over an open fire, an old Girl Scout trick is to lightly coat the OUTSIDE of the pan with a bit of regular dishwashing soap (i.e. Dawn, Palmolive, etc.) to facilitate easy washing.
