All you'll smell is bacon while these smoky stuffed mushrooms bake. They are filled with creamy, cheesy goodness mixed with onions, mushrooms, and (you guessed it) bacon. They are a tasty appetizer for watching football or a holiday party. I love mushrooms any way I can get them. I created this recipe one night because I was craving something different. Even my then 3 haveyear haveold, who said she didn't like mushrooms, gobbled them up! WARNING: These are addictive, and It is a rich dish because of the bacon drippings or butter... but please give them a try!

Ingredients :
- 12 - button or cremini (baby portobello) mushrooms
- 7 slice(s) bacon
- 1/4 cup(s) diced onion
- 8 ounce(s) cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 - 1 cup(s) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- - black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
- 2-3 tablespoon(s) butter or reserved bacon drippings
- 1/2 cup(s) bread crumbs, seasoned or plain
Intructions :
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Clean the mushrooms and remove the stems. Chop the stems and set aside. Cook 3 slices of the bacon to the limp stage and the other 4 until crisp. Transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate but reserve the drippings
- Add the onion and diced mushroom stems to the reserved drippings and cook until soft
- Chop the crisp bacon into small pieces. In a mixing bowl, add the cream cheese. Stir in the crisp bacon pieces and cheddar cheese
- Stir in the onion/mushroom mixture, black pepper, and garlic powder
- Spray a 9x13-inch casserole dish or sheet pan with cooking spray. Fill each mushroom with as much cheese filling as it will hold
- Cut each slice of limp bacon into 4 pieces so one small piece will fit onto each mushroom. Sprinkle bread crumbs on top of bacon-covered mushrooms and drizzle with bacon drippings or melted butter
- Bake for 20 minutes until brown on top. Enjoy!!
