Touchdown Sammies Recipe @pinch

Who doesn't love an easy and tasty Crock Pot meal? The aroma in the Test Kitchen was intoxicating as this simmered away. We loved the robust flavor the beer and stock give the beef. Once shredded, the beef is tender and melt in your mouth delicious. Have fun with the toppings. We opted for a toasted pretzel bun, melted provolone, and BBQ sauce have amazing. This will be great for a crowd when everyone is gathered to watch the big game. This recipe is so simple and tasty and lets you enjoy the game instead of being chained to the kitchen. Take this recipe and make it your own... you can do sliders or onion buns (my preference) or sourdough bread... it is excellent on rye buns... whatever you choose and your Super Bowl party guests will be raving about your sandwiches while rooting for their favorite team. The condiment possibilities are endless... I like horseradish sauce or pure horseradish, you can use BBQ sauce, spicy mustard, pickles, whatever you choose works great!Top with your favorite cheese for a touchdown!!

Prep time: Cook time:
Recipe Cuisine: American Recipe Category: Beef Yield: 6 Servings
Ingredients :
  • 5 pound(s) boneless chuck roast
  • 2 package(s) Good Seasons Zesty Italian dressing mix
  • 1 tablespoon(s) fresh ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon(s) dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon(s) dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon(s) dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon(s) onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon(s) garlic powder
  • 2 cup(s) beef stock
  • 1 cup(s) stout beer
  • - **for a kick you can add some crushed red pepper.
Intructions :
  • Put the meat and all of the ingredients in an oval slow cooker (small Crock Pot will not be big enough). Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours
  • Remove the meat from the Crock Pot (should be fork tender) and shred it using 2 forks
  • Return the meat to the juices and continue cooking on low for another 30 minutes up to an hour
  • Keep warm and serve. The possibilities are endless... sometimes I serve on hoagie buns and top with sauteed onions, peppers, and mushrooms and melt provolone on top under the broiler, delish. Or, just set out buffet style with different bread and condiments such as horseradish, mayo, BBQ sauce, mustard. Enjoy the compliments AND the game.
