Bacon, Gouda cheese, and a creamy sauce... what more could you want on a burger? We loved the smoky Gouda cheese with the applewood bacon. The sauce is absolutely delicious and perfect on the burger. It is like Thousand Island dressing with a nice kick. A nice treat if you normally just put ketchup on your burger. If you are not a huge raw onion fan, then leave it of the dressing mixture. It will be just as delish! I have decided to contribute to the collection of many wonderful recipes that I find on Just A Pinch, I'm always taking so time to give. This burger was inspired by two experiences, many years ago in Europe where I tasted something similar and the second was having a similar tasting burger from a well know national chain here in the United States. This is my first submission, therefore I really look forward to reading the reviews. Hopefully, more good than bad. Enjoy!!
Ingredients :
- 2/3 pound(s) beef (enough for 2 patties)
- 4 slice(s) applewood smoked bacon
- 4 slice(s) smoked Gouda cheese
- 4 tablespoon(s) Thousand Island dressing
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) crushed bacon bits
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) diced white onion
- 1/2 teaspoon(s) dry mustard powder
- dash(es) ketchup (optional)
- 2 deluxe hamburger buns of choice
- 1 slice(s) thin cut, white onion
Intructions :
- In a small bowl combine the Thousand Island dressing, bacon bits, mustard powder, diced onion, and, if desired, a dash of ketchup
- Mix ingredients until combined
- Cook the applewood smoked bacon in a separate frying pan. Drain the bacon and pat dry with paper towels
- Let cool to finger touch and rip each strip into half pieces
- Cook your patties to desired doneness
- Also, toast your hamburger buns
- Construct your hamburger by placing about a tablespoon of the Thousand Island mixture on the inside facing of the bottom half of the bun
- Top this with a slice of Gouda cheese
- Then add the beef patty
- Add another slice of Gouda cheese
- Break your thin slice of white onion into individual rounds, splitting equally between the two buns
- On the inside face of the top half of the bun, add an additional tablespoon of Thousand Island mixture
- Add slices of bacon. Of course, this is your burger, so if you like additional items like pickles, tomatoes, or lettuce, please don't let these instructions stop you
- You're ready to serve! Favorite beverage in hand, onion rings or fries on the side, all up to you.
