The Perfect Red Sangria Recipe @pinch

Easy to make, this red sangria is perfect for a fiesta or sitting by the pool. Not too dry and not too sweet, the combination of ingredients is perfect. We used Las Rochas Garnacha for the Spanish red wine and opted for Triple Sec. To suit our taste buds, we used the entire cup of simple syrup. Depending on your wine, you may not need the entire cup. Also, we could not find pomegranate seeds anywhere so we substituted them with raspberries. Make sure to let the fruit soak up the sangria. It is a yummy snack once you finish a glass. I love red wine sangria, so I have tried making it several different ways. I must say, I think this one is perfect!

Prep time: Cook time:
Recipe Cuisine: American Recipe Category: Cocktails Yield: 6 Servings
Ingredients :
  • 2 bottle(s) red wine (preferably Spanish table wine)
  • 1 cup(s) brandy
  • 1 cup(s) pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup(s) orange juice
  • 1/2 cup(s) orange liqueur (Triple Sec or orange vodka)
  • 1/2 cup(s) simple syrup (equal parts sugar & water cooked until sugar dissolves)
  • FRUIT GARNISHES
  • - blackberries
  • - pomegranate seeds
  • - apples (tart apples, sliced or rounds made with melon baller)
  • - orange slices
Intructions :
  • Make the simple syrup by cooking sugar and water on medium heat until dissolved. (I usually make at least a cup in case the sangria needs extra.)
  • Let cool to room temp
  • Mix all ingredients directly in a serving container
  • Add simple syrup last and to taste. The amount will vary depending on the variety of wine and the sweetness of the juice. (The higher quality of juice the better the sangria will taste.)
  • Add fruit. Letting fruit soak for a couple of hours before serving is delicious!
